As the Student Administration and Support Services Officer and call centre agent, Julia Mamabolo is students' and prospective students' first point of contact when they have questions or need assistance. Her role is crucial as it ensures students are heard, supported and well-informed from their first interaction with UPOnline, making Mamabolo an essential bridge between UPOnline and students. Mamabolo shares what motivates her in the world of online education and the women that inspired her.
1. What motivated you to pursue a career in online education?
My inquisitive nature motivated me to pursue a career in online education. I thrive in challenging environments that encourage critical thinking and learning new things.
2. Who are the women who inspired you, and how did they inspire your professional career?
I find it difficult to pinpoint a single person who has inspired me, as I believe I learn something valuable from every encounter. However, if I had to choose, I would say that my late grandmother and my mother's determination to succeed have instilled in me the belief that I can excel in any area I choose to pursue.
3. What advice would you give to women who are considering a future career in online education?
Be open to innovation and learning new things. The key to building a career in a growing field lies in being open to exploring and embracing the unknown.
4. What role do you think women will play in shaping the future of online education?
Based on the women I know in the online education space, I believe that women will continue to discover the most effective ways to meet the needs of students in online education. They will work to ensure that high-quality education is delivered while providing the necessary support to foster success.
